Membership information
Increasing interest in genealogy during recent decades resulted in 1987 in the formation of the Netherlands Society for Jewish Genealogy, which in the thirteen years of its existence has grown to a membership of almost 700 in early 2000.
The society's main goals and activities are:
- Interchange of genealogical data about Jewish families having lived, or now living, in the Netherlands.
- Development of knowledge concerning available sources for research on Jewish families.
- Publication of a quarterly periodical in the Dutch language.
- Arranging meetings and lectures.
- Stimulation of genealogical research with regard to Jewish families in the Netherlands and their ancestors from other countries.
- Study - in the framework of genealogical research - of the position of Jews in the Netherlands in various regions throughout the ages.
The first objective is pursued by means of:
- The annual publication of a Family Register containing the names of those families for which the society's members possess genealogical data - an important stimulus for members to contact each other for additional
research and interchange of data.
- The quarterly question-and-answer feature in the periodical Misjpoge.
You are most welcome to join our society. Please use our registration form in
Dutch or
English.
The membership fee is
€
30 per annum if paid from a Dutch bank account. If paid from outside the
Netherlands the membership fee is US$ 50 per annum.
Upon receipt of your registration form, the member list, the Family Register and the issues of the current year of Misjpoge will be sent to you.
